The Balcony by Jean Genet was co-presented by The RedEye Theatre. Our premiere work was the full length production of The Devils by John Whiting in June of 2005. This classic 1960’s historical drama based on the true story of 17th century nuns in the South of France possessed by devils was staged at The Cedar/Riverside People’s Center. In it a cast of 15 created a world horrific in its repression and political machinations. The play though ostensibly based in 16th century France bore a strong resemblance to America in 2005. Nightpath’s 30 minute performance piece for The Minnesota Fringe Festival Meditation on the Devils showcased Nightpath’s iconic imagery and expressive physicalisations in an explosive examination of the play’s subtext.
